Manila: Typhoon Marce, internationally known as Yinxing, continues to bring significant weather disturbances across parts of Luzon, including strong winds and scattered rains. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Tuesday that the typhoon has slightly intensified, with maximum sustained winds reaching 130 kilometers per hour near its center and gustiness of up to 160 kilometers per hour.

According to Philippines News Agency, as of 4 p.m., Typhoon Marce was positioned 480 kilometers east of Echague, Isabela. PAGASA forecaster Veronica Torres noted in a briefing that Marce will result in scattered rains and thunderstorms over regions such as Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and some areas in Mindanao. These areas may experience moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms, potentially leading to flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila and other regions of the country are expected to see isolated rain showers due to loc
alized thunderstorms. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been issued for several areas, including Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, northern Benguet, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and northern Aurora. Residents in these areas should brace for strong winds.

A gale warning has also been announced for the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, indicating risky sea travel for all types and tonnages of vessels. PAGASA forecasts that Marce may make landfall or pass close to Babuyan Islands or northern mainland Cagayan by Thursday, with its peak intensity expected before landfall. The typhoon is anticipated to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday.
