Surigao city: Surigao del Sur Governor Johnny Pimentel now chairs the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) for the Caraga Region. Pimentel’s appointment, signed by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla and officially approved by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., was announced on Thursday. Pimentel will serve as Caraga RPOC chair from 2025 to 2028.
According to Philippines News Agency, Pimentel expressed his gratitude for his appointment, emphasizing the trust and confidence placed in him by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and DILG Secretary Juanito Victor L. Remulla. He highlighted the importance of peace and order in his current administration in Surigao del Sur.
Pimentel noted that this new role will allow for the expansion of efforts to ensure safety and peace throughout the entire Caraga Region. He emphasized the goal of creating empowered communities where every Caraganon can live securely.
Pimentel succeeds Alexander Pimentel, who now serves as the representative of Surigao del Sur’s 2nd District.
