SSS Launches LoanLite Through UnionDigital Bank Mobile App

Uniondigital bank: UnionDigital Bank (UD) is now accepting applications for the Social Security System (SSS) microloan program, SSS LoanLite, through its mobile application. This move marks a significant step in providing accessible and secure financial assistance to qualified members for their immediate financial needs.

According to Philippines News Agency, SSS LoanLite is a pioneering digital microloan facility designed specifically for employed members of the private sector. It allows them to apply for loans without the typical employer certification required for conventional SSS loans. The entire application process, along with related transactions, is facilitated through the UnionDigital Bank mobile app, streamlining access to funds.

Qualified members can apply for loans ranging from PHP1,000 to PHP20,000, based on their average of the 12 latest Monthly Salary Credits. The repayment terms are flexible, offering periods of 15, 30, 60, or 90 days, with an annual interest rate of 8 percent. This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand formal financial services and protect members from predatory lending practices.

SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph de Claro highlighted that UD is the first of four participating financial institutions to integrate SSS LoanLite into its digital platform. "After months of preparation, SSS LoanLite is finally here. Qualified members can now apply through the UnionDigital Bank mobile application, making access to short-term financial assistance more convenient and secure," de Claro stated. He also mentioned ongoing collaborations with other PFIs to extend the availability of SSS LoanLite through their digital platforms.

To be eligible for SSS LoanLite, members must have at least 36 total contributions, including a minimum of six posted monthly contributions within the 12 months preceding the loan application. Additionally, applicants should have no past-due Short-Term Member Loans or active SSS Micro Loan and must maintain an account with the participating financial institution enrolled in its online facility. Other requirements related to existing loans, benefit claims, and SSS account status must also be met.

De Claro further emphasized the importance of the partnership with UD, stating, "SSS LoanLite is part of our broader effort to expand access to formal financial services and protect our members from predatory lending. Through our partnership with UD, we are supporting faster, safer, and more convenient access to credit for qualified members."
