Vatican city: Pope Leo XIV has extended his prayers for those impacted by Typhoon Tino, known internationally as Kalmaegi, which caused widespread devastation in the Philippines.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Pope delivered his message during the Angelus prayer at St. Peter’s Square, expressing his heartfelt prayers for the victims. He conveyed his condolences for the deceased and their families, and offered prayers for those injured and displaced by the disaster. The Pope emphasized his solidarity with the Filipino people as they endure the aftermath of the typhoon.
Last week, Typhoon Tino wreaked havoc across the Visayas and parts of Mindanao, resulting in the deaths of 224 individuals, predominantly in Cebu province. As the clearing, cleaning, and search efforts continue, the organization has identified immediate necessities, including water, food packs, household essentials, sleeping kits, temporary shelter materials, solar lights, water receptacles, sanitation kits, and medicines.
Caritas Philippines urged continued solidarity and compassion, emphasizing the collective power of generosity to rebuild homes and restore hope amid the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino.
