PNP Intensifies Crackdown on Corrupt Officers Amid Extortion Scandal

Muntinlupa City:Manila The Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its efforts to eliminate corrupt practices within its ranks, focusing particularly on officers involved in extortion schemes that undermine public trust. PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized the organization's commitment to protecting citizens and removing officers who exploit the public for personal gain.

According to Philippines News Agency, the crackdown follows the arrest of a police staff sergeant implicated in an extortion scheme involving protection fees from jeepney drivers and a related murder of a driver in Muntinlupa City. Nartatez described these actions as damaging to the integrity and reputation of the police force and reiterated the importance of accountability and honesty among officers.

The PNP plans to continue its operations against corrupt officers, focusing on strengthening accountability measures and improving mechanisms for public reporting of police abuses. Nartatez is determined to file criminal and administrative charges against such officers to rid the force of those who tarnish its image.

Alias Kara filed a complaint against her partner, citing repeated physical, emotional, and mental abuse. Napolcom Vice Chairperson Rafael Vicente R.
