Dubai: The Philippines’ Tennnielle Madis and Russian Vlada Guryleva claimed victory in the girls’ doubles final of the United Arab Emirates ITF Juniors tournament. They defeated the second-seeded duo, Pavla Sviglerova from the Czech Republic and Inka Wawrzkiewicz from Poland, with a score of 6-4, 6-4 at the TopSpin Sports Center in Dubai on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the top-seeded pair of Madis and Guryleva advanced to the final after defeating Olivia Cela and Kornelia Krzesniak of Poland (6-2, 6-4), Yuhan Chen of China and Diya Ramesh of India (6-0, 6-2), and the fourth-seeded Russian team of Anastasia Efremova and Alena Kharchenko (6-4, 6-3).

Meanwhile, Sviglerova and Wawrzkiewicz reached the final by overcoming Sophia Budacsek of the United States and Ophelia Korpanec of Great Britain (6-4, 6-0), Arina Malygina and Alina Yuneva of Russia (2-6, 6-3, 10-5), and Lila Grace Bachour of France and Vittoria Vignolini of Italy (4-6, 6-1, 10-8).

Madis expressed her gratitude towards her partner, stating, “Without my partner, I won’t be able to achieve this victory. Teamwork and communication made us win.” This victory marks Madis’ second doubles title in the UAE, following her win in Fujairah two weeks ago alongside Ui Su Jeong of South Korea.

The 17-year-old athlete from M’lang, North Cotabato, also acknowledged the support of her coach, Robert Angelo. Angelo, a former Davis Cup player and Southeast Asian Games medalist, currently serves as the head coach of the Philippine Tennis Academy. He praised Madis, saying, “Like what I have said before, Tenny has the talent. She needs more exposure. She has to join big tournaments to improve her skills.”

Last year, Madis secured six singles and five doubles titles, with four of her doubles victories achieved with her Philippine Tennis Academy teammate Stefi Marithe Aludo at J60 events in Manila, China, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
