PhilHealth Pays PHP1.82 Billion in Z Benefits Claims to 34,000 Members

Manila: The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) paid PHP1.82 billion in Z Benefits claims from January to June 2026, benefiting 34,268 members with severe and catastrophic conditions requiring prolonged and costly treatment. In a public advisory Friday, PhilHealth said its Z Benefits Package provides coverage for high-cost medical treatments for patients with critical illnesses, helping reduce their financial burden. The state health insurer said member contributions help fund financial support for patients requiring treatment for life-threatening conditions.

According to Philippines News Agency, PhilHealth also reported PHP210.09 billion in total health care claims paid during the first half of 2026. Hemodialysis accounted for the largest share among the 10 medical procedures with the highest claim payments during the period, at PHP48.76 billion. Other procedures and services with high claim payments included cesarean section at PHP4.88 billion, chemotherapy administration at PHP3.50 billion, facility-based emergency care at PHP3.15 billion, and intensity-modulated radiation therapy at PHP3.11 billion.

The remaining top 10 payouts were for animal bite treatment at PHP2.93 billion, expanded newborn care at PHP2.81 billion, normal spontaneous delivery at PHP2.73 billion, outpatient HIV/AIDS packages at PHP2.46 billion, and general maternity care at PHP2.24 billion.
