PH Navy Launches Investigation into Deaths of Two Divers in Sarangani

Sarangani: The Philippine Navy (PN) is conducting an investigation into the tragic deaths of two naval divers during a recreational dive in Sarangani on August 4. “As safety remains a top priority, the PN is also reviewing and enhancing our protocols related to both recreational and operational diving activities to prevent similar incidents in the future,” the Navy stated in an official release.

According to Philippines News Agency, the divers were on official leave and taking a wellness break when the incident occurred. Initial reports indicate that the mishap took place during a recreational dive in the waters off Barangay Mindupok, Maitum, Sarangani. The two naval personnel went missing for over an hour before being discovered floating and unconscious.

The Philippine Navy has expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased, assuring them of full support during this challenging period. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and assure them of our full support during this difficult time,” the PN stated. The Navy is committed to providing full assistance to the bereaved families.

In their statement, the Philippine Navy also emphasized their recognition and honor of the service and dedication of the fallen sailors. “Above all, we recognize and honor the service and dedication of our fallen sailors to the country and the Filipino people,” the statement concluded.
