Subic bay: Local and international anglers are set to showcase their skills in the inaugural Subic Bay Shore Fishing tournament, scheduled from August 8 to 10 at the San Bernardino Fishing Site in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The event, organized by Fish’n Town in collaboration with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), aims to promote sustainable fishing practices while highlighting the abundant marine biodiversity of the area.
According to Philippines News Agency, SBMA chair Eduardo Ali±o has expressed a vision to transform Subic Bay into the fishing capital of Northern Philippines by promoting responsible outdoor tourism and showcasing the region’s vibrant marine resources. “This tournament is part of our larger mission to stimulate sustainable tourism and position SBMA as a prime destination for sport fishing in the North,” stated Ali±o in a news release.
The event is supported by Smart Communications, Jollibee, and Columbia Sportswear, and it is anticipated to boost local tourism. Participants and spectators are expected to make use of various accommodations and services throughout the Subic Bay area. The tournament also emphasizes responsible fishing practices and marine conservation, consistent with Subic Bay’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
