Manila: The Philippines and Morocco celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations with a joint commemorative stamp featuring the Mactan-Cebu and Marrakech Menara airports.
According to Philippine News Agency, in a news release on Tuesday, Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) Postmaster General Luis Carlos said the stamps symbolize a bridge that connects the countries’ innovation and connectivity in the aviation sector. The PHLPost stamp features the architecture of Mactan-Cebu International Airport Terminal 2, which includes a wave-like roof structure that represents the traditional Filipino “bangka” (boat canoes), supported by large glulam wood arches.
Meanwhile, the Marrakech Menara Airport’s architecture combines modern design with traditional Moroccan elements, such as Islamic arabesques and a high sweeping roof. Postmaster General Carlos expressed gratitude to Mr. Amin Benjelloun Touimi, CEO of Barid Al-Manghrib, and His Excellency Leslie Baja, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Kingdom of Morocco, for their support and leadership in making this project a reality.
The collaboration marks a significant milestone as the Philippines and Morocco commemorated 50 years of diplomatic relations on April 10. The joint stamp initiative reflects the dedication and passion of both countries in promoting their national identities through such cultural exchanges.
