Makati City: Visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet announced that Cambodia and the Philippines have significant potential to unlock by enhancing trade and investment connections between the two nations. Hun Manet is currently on his inaugural official visit to the Philippines, which will last until Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, during the initial day of his visit on Monday, Hun Manet attended the Philippines-Cambodia Business Forum in Makati City. He encouraged Cambodian and Filipino enterprises to delve deeper into trade and investment partnerships. “This forum is more than just a gathering. It is a bridge between our nations and a place where business connects, ideas thrive, and meaningful partnership,” he stated, highlighting the opportunity to fortify economic ties and discover new possibilities.

The Cambodian Prime Minister is particularly focused on enhancing collaboration with the Philippines in several key sectors, including rice, tourism, air connectivity, skills development, and infrastructure. In conjunction with these efforts, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo revealed that the Board of Investments and the Council for the Development of Cambodia are planning to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to foster closer investment relations between Manila and Phnom Penh. “We aim to exchange information on the investment regime of both sides and assist investors from each side as they explore opportunities,” Rodolfo remarked to reporters on the sidelines of the forum.

Furthermore, Hun Manet observed the signing of two MOUs-one between the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, and another between Asia Europe University and World Citi Colleges-signifying the commitment of both countries to deepen their cooperative efforts.
