PCSO Cracks Down on Illegal Online Lotto, Aims for Level 3 Certificate

Para±aque city: The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said it is taking a proactive stance in cracking down on illegal online lotteries as it aims to achieve a higher standards certification from the World Lottery Association (WLA).

According to Philippines News Agency, at a media conference in Para±aque City, PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles stated that they are collaborating with law enforcement agencies to identify and shut down illegal lottery operations in the country. Simultaneously, the PCSO is enhancing its systems to make PCSO games more accessible and user-friendly through digital modernization.

Robles emphasized the importance of educating the public to distinguish between legal and illegal games. He described their approach as three-pronged: enforcement, modernization, and awareness, which not only protect revenues but also contribute to a safer, more transparent gaming environment for Filipinos. This announcement coincided with the PCSO hosting the Asia Pacific Lottery Association (APLA) Conference 2025 in Manila from October 28 to 31.

The conference gathers key lottery leaders and experts to discuss gaming’s future under the theme ‘The Future of Lotteries: Thriving in an Era of Uncertainty.’ Robles highlighted the PCSO’s achievement of a Level 2 certification in responsible gaming standards from the WLA earlier this year, reflecting its commitment to international best practices.

Robles stated that they are on their way to securing Level 3 certification, which will further demonstrate that their systems meet the highest standards of accountability and player protection. These efforts aim to protect the Filipino public, ensure fairness in gaming, and secure more funds for the nation’s health and welfare.

By choosing regulated, transparent, and accountable PCSO games, Filipinos are not only playing responsibly but also helping fund hospitals, medical assistance, and community programs, which illegal betting does not provide. Robles encouraged Filipinos to support legitimate PCSO games as every ticket purchased is an act of solidarity with the community.

Robles mentioned that the country’s hosting of the APLA 2025 highlights renewed international confidence in the integrity, transparency, and leadership of the Philippine lottery system. The event serves as an opportunity to share experiences, learn from regional partners, and ensure the lottery sector thrives responsibly.

In celebration of their 91st anniversary, Robles announced that the jackpot money for the Ultra Lotto 6/58 and Grand Lotto 6/55 draws will be raised to PHP91 million.
