PCG Intensifies Efforts in Search for Missing Passenger in Batangas-Caticlan Waters

Pangasinan: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has intensified its search and rescue (SAR) operations for a missing passenger along the Batangas-Caticlan sea route since Dec. 13. In a statement on Tuesday, PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, ordered the activation of SAR vessels and aerial assets as part of the PCG’s commitment to protecting lives at sea, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines)’ campaign.

According to Philippines News Agency, Gavan emphasized the PCG’s dedication to providing quality service, regardless of the challenges in terms of assets, to all Filipinos and users of the seas. The PCG is currently investigating whether the missing passenger jumped overboard.

The PCG has expanded their search operations through surface and aerial efforts in the Batangas-Caticlan route. The PCG District Southern Tagalog is working in coordination with the Philippine National Police and communicating with coastal communities and fisherfolk to extend the search area.

Gavan highlighted that the operation is a reflection of the PCG’s Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Rescue, and Enforcement (iCARE) Program. This initiative ensures that every life is valued and underscores the Coast Guard’s decisive and unwavering service to the Filipino people, especially during times of distress.
