Manila: The Philippine Coast Guard in Bicol (PCG-5) has reported that over 107,000 passengers departed from all ports in the Bicol region during the recent holiday season.

According to Philippines News Agency, PCG-5 Commander, Commodore Ivan Roldan, stated that 315 personnel were deployed to various locations and ports in the region from December 20, 2024, to January 3, 2025. Roldan emphasized that these efforts were crucial in ensuring passenger safety and managing the high volume of travelers. This initiative was part of their Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024, which aimed to provide a safe and convenient travel experience to the public during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

PCG-5 monitored a total of 107,093 outbound passengers and 69,976 inbound passengers, along with approximately 16,742 outbound rolling cargoes and 8,859 inbound rolling cargoes across all Bicol ports. Roldan also mentioned that their personnel conducted inspections on 684 vessels and 60 motorboats.
