PBBM Welcomes House Dismissal of Impeachment Complaints

Manila: Malaca±ang on Tuesday announced that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed satisfaction with the House of Representatives' decision to dismiss two impeachment complaints against him, emphasizing that the process was fair and based on truth.

According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro conveyed that the President welcomed the outcome of the plenary vote, where a significant majority of lawmakers decided to reject the impeachment complaints. Castro stated that the President was pleased with the support of 284 House members who voted for the dismissal.

Castro highlighted that the President has no intention of focusing on the impeachment issue and is instead keen on advancing his work. She added that President Marcos is concentrating on economic programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Filipinos.

Previously, the House of Representatives dismissed the impeachment complaints after the committee on justice deemed the petitions insufficient in substance. The plenary vote concluded with 284 lawmakers supporting the dismissal, eight opposing, and four abstaining.

The complaints, initially filed by lawyer Andre de Jesus on January 19 and members of the Makabayan Coalition on January 22, were initially found sufficient in form but were later dismissed due to a lack of substantive grounds. President Marcos had earlier dismissed the complaints as unfounded and distracting.
