Romualdez Mobilizes Lakas-CMD Lawmakers to Support Marcos Administration’s Legislative Priorities

Manila: Leaders and members of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) in the House of Representatives have officially adopted the party's legislative agenda for the 20th Congress. They expressed confidence in advancing these measures as House priority bills through broad, cross-party cooperation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the agenda was unanimously approved by Lakas-CMD House members following an appeal by Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez. He urged party colleagues to act with unity and discipline in pushing the administration's legislative priorities. Romualdez emphasized the need for party members to close ranks and actively support the legislative agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., collaborating closely with leaders of all political parties in the House of Representatives.

Romualdez affirmed that the House is united under the leadership of Speaker Faustino 'Bojie' Dy III, who is guiding the chamber in addressing priority measures endorsed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC). He stressed that unity, discipline, and cross-party cooperation are essential as the House works to translate the President's agenda into tangible legislation.

As legislators, Romualdez noted their foremost responsibility is to enact laws that directly improve the lives of the people. He declared Lakas-CMD's full commitment to supporting the President's legislative priorities and working constructively with Speaker Bojie Dy and all party leaders in the House. Additionally, he highlighted the role of House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander 'Sandro' Marcos in managing the legislative calendar and consolidating majority support for priority measures.

Representing Leyte's first district, Romualdez remains focused on measures promoting inclusive growth, protecting public welfare, and supporting long-term national development, while contributing to the collective effort of advancing the administration's legislative program. He emphasized the importance of staying focused on legislation that delivers real, tangible benefits to Filipinos, shaping the enduring legacy of the administration.

The adopted party agenda is centered on easing the cost of living, improving access to essential services, strengthening food security, and protecting public health-key concerns for ordinary Filipino families. Among the proposed measures are the Automatic Electricity Lifeline Rate Act, the Internet Service Reliability and Consumer Protection Measure, and the Standard Job Application Act, all aimed at providing practical relief and improving daily life for Filipinos.

The agenda also includes the Rice Industry and Consumer Empowerment (RICE) Act, amendments to the Universal Health Care Act, and a Congressional Oversight Inquiry on the Clean Air Act. These measures aim to stabilize rice supply and prices, expand health benefits, and review air quality standards to align with updated scientific benchmarks.

Lakas-CMD leaders emphasized that the common thread across these measures is ginhawa (relief), providing practical relief that families can feel in their daily lives. Deputy Speaker David 'Jayjay' Suarez, Lakas-CMD treasurer, highlighted that these laws are meant to have a tangible impact on everyday life, from lower bills and cheaper food to easier access to jobs, health care, and clean air.

Lakas-CMD leaders affirmed their commitment to working closely with House leadership and lawmakers across the political spectrum to prioritize and advance these measures in the 20th Congress.
