Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his gratitude to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for Malaysia’s assistance to the Philippines following Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, internationally known as Trami. Marcos conveyed his appreciation during a phone call with Prime Minister Anwar on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos highlighted the crucial role of Malaysian military aircraft in the relief operations. The air support provided by Malaysia enabled the delivery of essential supplies to regions severely affected by flooding, areas that were otherwise inaccessible. This assistance was vital in bringing relief to families impacted by the storm.
Marcos underscored the importance of regional cooperation, noting the supportive response from ASEAN members during the crisis. He stated that such solidarity among nations strengthens the region, especially during challenging times marked by loss and recovery. Malaysia was among the Southeast Asian nations that contributed to the
collective relief efforts, reinforcing the spirit of cooperation within ASEAN.
