PBBM Orders Agencies to Promptly Pay Performing Contractors

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered government agencies to immediately settle obligations to contractors who properly delivered on government projects, Malaca±ang said Monday. At a Palace briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro stated that the directive reflects the President's push to stimulate economic activity while ensuring accountability in public spending.

According to Philippines News Agency, Castro emphasized that the President's order aims for immediate payment to contractors who have successfully completed their projects. She noted that President Marcos wants this directive to be executed "as soon as possible." Castro highlighted the importance of a faster payment process, which she stated would lead to improved work for the Filipino people.

The Palace Press Officer also mentioned that President Marcos is steadfast in his goal to boost the economy while simultaneously leading investigations into the misuse of public funds. During a January 30 meeting with the economic team, the President urged his Cabinet to focus on the swift and efficient implementation of infrastructure projects. He directed agency heads to ensure that government infrastructure projects are carried out promptly and properly.

Castro further stressed the need for strong coordination between national and local governments to ensure effective monitoring and completion of infrastructure projects.
