Manila: Malacanang has dismissed Vice President Sara Duterte's camp's call for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to resign, describing it as 'delusional' and lacking legal basis. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that the call appears to be aimed at installing Duterte as president.

According to Philippines News Agency, Castro pointed out that mere ambition is insufficient for leadership, highlighting the necessity of capability, knowledge, and preparedness to address the nation's critical issues. She stated, "Definitely, the demand for the President to resign, without any legal basis and in order to put in place the principal of the spokesperson is definitely, absolutely delusional."

The statement came in response to Salvador Paolo Panelo Jr., spokesperson for Duterte, who accused Marcos of being 'out of touch with reality' for allegedly downplaying accusations of corruption and government abuses. Panelo urged Marcos to step down, claiming he is 'not fit for office.'

Castro clarified that Marcos' comments were directed at Duterte's personal anger towards him, not the alleged governmental issues cited by Duterte's camp. She explained that Marcos' response was misinterpreted and not a reference to any government problems. The President's remarks were made during a recent interview in India.

In emphasizing the importance of capable leadership, Castro cited national concerns such as the West Philippine Sea and the Pax Silica initiative. She also countered claims of Marcos' inaction, attributing such accusations to those who do not understand the demands of the presidency.

Castro responded to criticism by saying, "It is easy to make accusations, especially when those making such claims are not working themselves. They do not see how demanding the President's responsibilities are."

Regarding the potential for frequent exchanges with Panelo, Castro stated her intent to address any baseless allegations and misinformation against the administration. "I will just make a response to all allegations that maybe given without any basis," she affirmed.
