Manila: The families of the students who died in the June 22 shooting incident at a school in Tacloban City will each receive PHP150,000 in financial assistance, Malaca±ang announced Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that each family of those who died will be given financial assistance of PHP150,000. The shocking incident involved two suspects, aged 14 and 15, who opened fire inside classrooms at the San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, resulting in the deaths of three students and injuries to 20 others.
Castro mentioned that the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Health are set to provide psychosocial services to everyone affected by the tragic event. The initial investigation revealed that the suspects had been planning the attack since April or May.
The attack claimed the lives of two females and one male, while 15 individuals sustained gunshot wounds. Additionally, five people were injured while attempting to jump to safety. One of the suspects was reportedly addicted to a mobile game called GoreBox, which allegedly features graphic violence and gun use.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed his grief over the fatal shooting and has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.
