Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has successfully seized nearly PHP2.49 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 42 individuals during a series of operations conducted over the course of a week, from March 17 to 23.
According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon reported that 35 anti-drug operations were carried out across six provinces and one component city, resulting in the confiscation of a significant quantity of illegal substances, including 367.2611 grams of shabu and 1.90 grams of marijuana. Among the provinces, Camarines Norte reported the highest drug seizure value at PHP1.60 million, followed by Camarines Sur with PHP574,957, Albay with PHP181,788, Masbate with PHP95,540, Naga City with PHP37,400, Sorsogon with PHP3,400, and Catanduanes with PHP1,020.
Brig. Gen. Dizon emphasized that the operations were not just focused on arrests and seizures but also on securing a safer future for the residents of Bicol. He highlighted the effectiveness of PRO-5’s comprehensive approach to combating illegal drugs, which includes intelligence gathering, community engagement, and swift police action. He noted that the operations’ success is a testament to the strategic efforts being implemented.
The PRO-5 has also strengthened its collaboration with local government units, reinforced patrols, and deployed specialized units to deter crime and ensure public safety. Brig. Gen. Dizon called for persistence and vigilance in the fight against criminal elements and encouraged the community to report any suspicious activities, assuring swift and effective police action in response.
