Manila: The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) intercepted a parcel containing over PHP10 million worth of kush or high-grade marijuana.

According to Philippines News Agency, Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio stated that the contraband was discovered after a thorough physical examination of a parcel from the United States on Oct. 30. Authorities found 7.1 kg of kush concealed in the parcel, which was then handed over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for further investigation and filing of appropriate charges under Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

The operation was carried out in close coordination with PDEA and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG). ‘We are intensifying our efforts to prevent illegal drugs from infiltrating our borders.
