Outgoing Antique Vice Governor Highlights Legislative Building as Key Legacy

Antique: Outgoing Vice Governor Edgar Denosta sees the three-story legislative building in Antique as his most significant achievement. Denosta advocated for the necessary funding, leading to the project’s initiation in 2020.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) financed the building, which was officially inaugurated on January 28, 2021. Prior to this, the provincial board conducted its regular sessions in a small rented space. The new building has provided a more suitable environment for officials and their staff to work efficiently.

Despite the need for retrofitting and repairs, including elevator work, the office has already improved the board’s operational efficiency. Denosta mentioned writing to the DPWH Regional Office 6 (Western Visayas) to ensure the contractor completes the necessary repairs before the official turnover.

The provincial secretary is preparing for the building’s turnover to the new board members, led by Vice Governor-elect Genevive Lim-Reyes, on June 23. Denosta plans to request that Reyes retain some skilled job order employees, as around 10 contractual employees per board member and 12 from the vice governor’s office may end their services by June 30 if not retained.
