Online Shopping Complaints Lead Consumer Concerns in Caraga Region

Butuan:Complaints regarding online purchases have emerged as the primary consumer issue in the Caraga Region. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) highlighted this trend, emphasizing instances where consumers receive products that do not match their online orders.

According to Philippines News Agency, Atty. Gemeniano Crisante Jr., head of the Consumer Protection Division of DTI Caraga, shared these insights during the Kapihan sa PIA event held at SM City Butuan. The press conference was part of the Consumer Month celebrations in October.

Crisante noted that other frequent complaints include delays in motorcycle registration certificates and the non-honoring of discounts in online transactions. He explained that the DTI follows a 'no wrong door policy,' accepting all complaints and redirecting them to the appropriate agencies. For instance, issues with motorcycle registration are referred to the Land Transportation Office.

Ranah May Galon-Odvina, Attorney III of DTI Caraga, also addressed the press, underscoring that filing complaints is a way for consumers to exercise their rights. The officials highlighted the eight basic consumer rights, which include the right to basic needs, safety, information, choice, representation, redress, consumer education, and a healthy environment.
