Manila: Provision of relief goods for displaced families and assessment of the damage caused by Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-yi) are the government’s immediate goals, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said Monday. Assistant Secretary Cesar Idio, OCD Deputy Administrator for Operations, highlighted the ongoing response and the immediate needs of affected regions during a meeting of the Inter-Agency Coordination Cell.
According to Philippines News Agency, Idio emphasized that the primary concern of the government at all levels-national, regional, and local-is to provide lifesaving immediate relief needs to the affected population due to the consecutive tropical cyclones. He shared these insights during an online media briefing.
Idio mentioned that the OCD has not yet received official reports of casualties, attributing this to the proactive preparation and preemptive evacuations. He noted that a reported death in Camarines Norte is still under verification. The incident involved a 72-year-old individual whose ve
hicle got entangled in an internet wire, leading to a fatal accident.
