OCD Distributes 3,000 Hygiene Kits to Typhoon-Affected Families in Dinagat Islands

Dinagat islands: The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 13, serving the Caraga Region, distributed 3,000 family hygiene kits to support the Dinagat Islands, which were heavily impacted by Typhoon Tino. The distribution took place on Thursday, with the hygiene kits being received by local officials, including members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

According to Philippines News Agency, the Dinagat Islands have been declared under a state of calamity by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) following the severe damage caused by the recent typhoon. The provision of hygiene kits is part of the national government’s efforts to aid families severely affected by the disaster.

The PDRRMC emphasized that the kits were selected to cater to the basic sanitation needs of families whose homes and belongings suffered damage or destruction. Each kit contains essential items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, towels, sanitary pads, and disinfectants or detergents.

The PDRRMC further stated that this initiative underscores the OCD’s commitment to providing immediate relief in terms of food and shelter, as well as supporting the long-term health of disaster victims.
