Manila: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced that there were “no major incidents or issues” reported to them during the holiday season, ensuring a safe and smooth travel experience for passengers.
According to Philippines News Agency, CAAP, which operates 44 airports, had anticipated a surge in passenger numbers from December 20, 2024, to January 3, 2025. As of Monday afternoon, CAAP public information officer Bea Bernardo stated that they were still in the process of finalizing the total passenger volume for this period. Nonetheless, CAAP expects an increase in passenger volume by 7 to 10 percent compared to the previous year’s figures.
Data from CAAP indicated that there were 2.4 million passengers from December 1 to 31, 2023, across the airports it manages. In a news release, CAAP Director General Manuel Tamayo expressed gratitude to the personnel who worked diligently over the holidays, ensuring smooth and safe travel for passengers during this peak season. He also emphasized CAAP’s commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards in aviation.
Tamayo encouraged continued collaboration and dedication, stating, “Together, let us make 2025 another meaningful year for CAAP and the Philippine aviation industry.”
