Davao oriental: The National Housing Authority-Davao (NHA-11) reported Thursday that it broke ground for the construction of 42 housing units under the Bahay Pag-asa Housing Program in the Municipality of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental on Sept. 9.

According to Philippines News Agency, NHA-11 Assistant General Manager Alvin Feliciano stated the project will provide permanent homes for members of the Pinasagan Neighborhood Farmers and Fisherfolk Association, who were previously classified as informal settlers. Feliciano emphasized the importance of residents cherishing and taking good care of the housing units provided to them.

The PHP25-million project is funded under NHA's Resettlement Assistance Program to Local Government Units (RAP-LGU) and will be developed on a four-hectare site in Purok 4 Eden, Barangay Manuel Roxas. The RAP-LGU is a collaborative effort between the NHA and local governments.

Jian Paul Logenza, the president of the association, expressed that the program has brought hope to their community, as they have previously faced eviction threats from rented property. Logenza highlighted that the housing project offers stability and a chance to rebuild their lives.

The Bahay Pag-asa Housing Program aims to provide sustainable housing for families living in danger zones, informal settlers, and those affected by calamities or government projects.
