New DSWD Digital Portal to Provide Easier Access to Donation Channels

Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to implement its newest digital platform that seeks to provide easier access to donation channels for local social welfare initiatives, an agency official said on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Assistant Secretary Ana Maria Paz Rafael of the DSWD’s Partnerships Building and Resource Mobilization stated that preparations are now in place for the launch of the Kaagapay online portal in February. Rafael emphasized that the platform aims to offer donors a simpler and more convenient way to contribute in-kind and financial support for the DSWD’s disaster response efforts and agency-managed Center and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs).

The Kaagapay donations portal will facilitate cash donations through digital transactions for disaster response efforts, mitigating the risk of distributing poor quality perishable goods to affected areas. In-kind contributions can be sent directly to the chosen CRCF by the donors, ensuring that the donations reach the intended recipients efficiently.

Furthermore, the portal will connect donors with the agency’s partner courier services from the logistics industry, with delivery costs to be covered by the donor. It also serves as a link to registered and licensed social welfare and development agencies (SWDAs), as well as local government units involved in humanitarian response efforts during disasters and emergencies.

Assistant Secretary Rafael conveyed that the portal allows individuals to contribute, regardless of the amount, and demonstrate their empathy and willingness to help those in need.
