Tanjay city: The newly appointed commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, has outlined three core principles to guide his leadership of the Philippine Army unit: a strong sense of urgency, operational preparedness, and high troop morale.
According to Philippines News Agency, Brig. Gen. Jason Jumawan emphasized in an interview that a sense of urgency in military operations is essential for meeting their mission timelines. He noted that preparedness extends beyond military operations to include disaster response capabilities. Jumawan also highlighted that boosting troop morale is vital to achieving these objectives.
Earlier, during his assumption speech, Jumawan acknowledged the brigade’s accomplishments, particularly in promoting peace in Central Visayas and Mindanao. He stated, “Throughout its history, this brigade has always fought for its people, winning battles for peace from various threats. And this brigade will continue its sworn duty to win the peace for the people of Central Visayas and the Negros Island Region.”
The brigade commander stressed the importance of collaboration with local chief executives and the community to achieve these goals. Maj. Gen. Michael Samson, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, presided over the installation of the new brigade commander at the unit’s headquarters at Camp Leon Kilat in Tanjay City.
Jumawan succeeded Brig. Gen. Joey Escanillas, who served in the brigade for more than two years and is now the Assistant Division Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division. In his message, Samson praised the stakeholders for their support and cooperation in the brigade’s achievements. He expressed confidence in Jumawan and challenged him “to continue the innovations and initiatives” started by Escanillas, “to realize our dream of having a peaceful and developed region.”
