Manila: Around 15,000 police personnel are set to be deployed to provide security for the scheduled Sept. 21 rallies in Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, NCRPO officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano stated that the deployment aims to ensure that the rallies proceed peacefully while respecting the participants' rights to express themselves. In a chance interview at the NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, Abrahano mentioned that coordination with various intelligence units has been intensified to anticipate any attempts by groups to infiltrate the protesters.

Abrahano emphasized the need for a substantial police presence, indicating that leave for personnel will be suspended to pool enough officers for street security. He highlighted the importance of collaboration with neighboring regions to maintain safety in the capital.

The NCRPO is also in the process of establishing communication with the leaders of the groups organizing the rallies to make necessary arrangements and issue warnings. Despite these preparations, Abrahano assured that no specific security threats have been detected related to the upcoming rallies.

On Sept. 21, 2025, similar anti-corruption rallies were held in parts of the NCR, driven by public outrage over a flood control and infrastructure corruption scandal.
