NBI Urges Ex-Davao City Information Officer to Answer Charges

Davao City:The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has urged former Davao City chief information officer Jefry Tupas to formally respond to the charges filed against him.

According to Philippines News Agency, the NBI recently endorsed to the Department of Justice (DOJ) the filing of criminal charges against Tupas, which include obstruction of justice, cyber libel, and publication of false news. These charges stem from allegations made by whistleblower Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., who claimed he delivered bags of money to Tupas for Vice President Sara Duterte.

Tupas has thus far declined to attend the NBI hearings regarding Gracioso's claims, despite receiving a subpoena from the NBI last September. He has described the NBI's recommendation to file charges as "harassment, plain and simple."
