MOSCOW: The 11th International Press Photo Contest for Young Photographers, held in memory of acclaimed photojournalist Andrei Stenin, has officially begun accepting entries. The competition traditionally launches on December 22, commemorating Stenin’s birthday, and honors his legacy following his tragic death in 2014 near Donetsk.
According to Philippines News Agency, Oksana Oleinik, curator of the contest, expressed excitement over its continued success. ‘Despite the challenges of our times, the contest remains a beacon for professional photographers worldwide, celebrating integrity and artistic expression. Through their lenses, participants reflect themes of compassion and humanity, fostering global understanding,’ Oleinik said.
The competition is open to professional photographers aged 18 to 33 and features five categories: Top News, Sports, My Planet, Portrait. Hero of Our Time, and Top View. Submissions in Top News, My Planet, and Portrait. Hero of Our Time can be either single photos or photo series, while the Sports and Top View categories are exclusive to single photos.
Photo professionals aged 18 to 33 are invited to submit their entries via the contest’s website in Russian at http://stenincontest.ru and in English at https://stenincontest.com. The submission window for the 2025 contest remains open until February 28.
The 2025 contest prize fund will award RUB 125,000 for first place, RUB 100,000 for second, and RUB 75,000 for third in each category. The recipient of the contest’s highest honor, the Grand Prix, will receive RUB 700,000. The awarding ceremony for the contest is traditionally slated to take place in Moscow between September and October this year.
Continuing the tradition of showcasing the winning photographs, the contest will once again embark on exhibition tours in both Russian and international cities in the coming year. Since its inception, the exhibitions have been displayed to audiences in countries such as China, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, DR Congo, Turkiye, Lebanon, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Egypt, and others.
