Mandaluyong city: More than 10,000 former overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) have successfully reintegrated into the country and returned to the education sector, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, this reintegration was made possible through the DMW’s ‘Sa ‘Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir’ (SPIMS) Program. The department emphasized that SPIMS has facilitated the return of more than 10,000 OFWs to their vocation, allowing them to teach in public schools across the country.
The program offers guidance and support to former OFWs, aiding their reintegration into the education workforce. The DMW is committed to strengthening its partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) to facilitate the return of more OFWs to teaching roles.
Through the SPIMS initiative, returning OFWs have not only resumed their teaching careers but have also contributed to enhancing the nation’s education system. The program continues to grow, inspiring both educators and students.
On Monday, the DMW organized a ceremony in Mandaluyong City to award SPIMS beneficiaries with Certificates of Recognition. DMW Assistant Secretary for Reintegration Francis Ron De Guzman and National Capital Region Director Falconi Millar praised the dedication of the new teachers who have transitioned from working abroad to educating Filipino students.
