Manila: More regions in the Philippines are expected to experience rainfall due to the influence of a shear line, easterlies, and the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” the weather bureau announced on Thursday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the shear line is forecasted to continue bringing scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to the Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz, and Northern Samar. These conditions are likely to result in moderate to heavy rains, which could lead to flash floods or landslides, as warned by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The easterlies will contribute to rainy conditions in Soccsksargen, Davao Region, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. These areas are also at risk of experiencing moderate to heavy rains with the potential for flash floods or landslides.

Additionally, the northeast monsoon is expected
to bring light rains to Cagayan Valley and Aurora, with isolated light rains projected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the remainder of Central Luzon.

PAGASA has also indicated that the rest of the country may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Severe thunderstorms in these areas could similarly lead to flash floods or landslides. Despite these weather conditions, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are anticipated across the entire archipelago. Fortunately, no low-pressure area has been identified that may develop into a tropical cyclone.
