Marikina city: The Marikina City government has been receiving complaints from taxpayers and business permit applicants about discourteous employees during their transactions at the city hall. During the flag-raising ceremony Monday, Mayor Maan Teodoro reminded employees of how they must render public service and that such behavior does not reflect the quality of service Marikina prides itself on.
According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Teodoro emphasized the importance of daily interactions in gaining the trust of the public, stating that ordinances and programs alone are not sufficient. Kahit pagod, kahit minsan nasasaktan, piliin pa rin ang maging mabuti, tapat at totoo sa ating trabaho," she said during her address.
Teodoro directed concerned offices to ensure prompt, clear, and accountable action on concerns raised by residents regarding discourteous personnel. She urged employees not to treat requests like a game of basketball, where they are merely passed around.
The city hall experienced a surge in taxpayers paying real property taxes from December 2025 to January 2026, followed by a wave of business permit renewals at the start of the year, leading to long lines and heavy activities.
