DOH Upbeat on Higher Measles Vaccine Turnout in N. Mindanao

Cagayan de oro: The Department of Health (DOH) 10 (Northern Mindanao) is optimistic it will surpass its measles-rubella vaccination target for the region. The DOH launched the Measles-Rubella Immunization Activity (MR-SIA) in Mindanao from Jan. 19 to Feb. 13, aiming to vaccinate 90 to 95 percent of children aged 6 to 59 months. During the launch in this city on Monday, DOH-10 Director Dr. Sulpicio Henry M. Legaspi Jr. said the agency is intensifying its campaign on MR-SIA because children's health and development are top priorities in its implementation.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOH-10 said the region had 411 measles cases in 2025, an 11 percent increase from 371 cases in 2024. In Mindanao alone, the DOH is reportedly planning to vaccinate nearly 3 million children against the disease.
