Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has instructed all government agencies to remain on high alert as Tropical Storm Marce, internationally known as Yinxing, approaches northern Luzon. In a statement, Marcos emphasized the necessity of an efficient communication system to ensure timely dissemination of information to communities and accurate reporting of on-the-ground situations.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos stressed the importance of early warnings, urging officials to establish a robust communication framework. He highlighted that community actions are heavily reliant on the early warnings provided by authorities, noting that “knowledge saves lives.” Marcos also mandated continuous monitoring of water levels in waterways and reservoirs, instructing that all rivers, lakes, shores, and waterways be under 24-hour surveillance.

In preparation for potential impacts, the President directed rescue units at all levels of government to ready their equipment and vehicles for reinforc
ement of rescue and relief operations. He also urged authorities to preposition relief goods in secure warehouses for swift delivery to affected areas. Further, the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Transportation have been instructed to stand by for road-clearing operations.

President Marcos extended his gratitude to medical personnel in both public and private facilities, acknowledging their readiness to assist those in need. He concluded by reminding everyone of the importance of being prepared and cautious, underscoring that “every life is important.”
