Marcos Lauds PNP’s Progress in Restoring Public Trust

Quezon city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed confidence in the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the 124th Police Service Anniversary celebration at Camp Crame. He emphasized that the PNP is making strides toward regaining public trust, highlighting a reduction in crime rates and the introduction of new operational capabilities.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos pointed out that crime incidence from June 2024 to June 2025 has decreased compared to the previous year. He acknowledged, however, that public perception is equally important as statistical improvements. Marcos stressed the need for decisive and responsive actions to rebuild trust among citizens, stating that the PNP is on the right path.

The President highlighted the PNP’s implementation of a five-minute response time strategy via the revitalized emergency 911 hotline, which has significantly improved police response to emergencies. He also recognized the advancements in technology, such as the use of drones and body-worn cameras, to enhance precision in police operations. Despite technological progress, Marcos underscored the irreplaceable value of police presence on the ground and committed to ongoing investigations and accountability for any officers who misuse their power.

Marcos assured the PNP of continued government support for modernization and operational readiness. He also congratulated recipients of the Medalya ng Kagitingang Gawa, praising their service in public safety and community engagement.

The anniversary celebration featured commendations for exceptional PNP personnel and introduced eight new patrol vehicles. Prior to the event, Marcos was briefed at the PNP Command Center on the five-minute Police Response Time system, which includes drone-assisted operations and live video streaming capabilities of body-worn cameras. The center is staffed by approximately 40 members of the PNP 911 Emergency Response Team.
