Manila: Twenty employees of the city government of Manila were awarded rent-to-own units at the newly built Pedro Gil Residences. Mayor Honey Lacuna led the ceremony where the units were allocated to the employees through a public raffle.
According to Philippines News Agency, the local government unit (LGU) employees will pay monthly rent ranging from PHP2,000 to PHP3,000. The titles of the condominium units will be awarded to them once the full price is paid over a number of years. Mayor Lacuna highlighted that this new policy differs from the previous one, allowing monthly payments to contribute toward ownership rather than perpetual rent.
City engineer Moises Alcantara provided details about the 20-story condominium building, which contains 299 residential units, 143 parking slots, and several amenities including commercial spaces, a swimming pool, fitness room, and activity areas. One of the recipients, Bernardo Manuel from the City Planning Development Office, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to own a home after 15 years of service to the city.
Additionally, a super health center has opened within the building, offering free medical services such as laboratory exams, ultrasound, X-ray, dental care, and minor surgeries. Mayor Lacuna emphasized the importance of healthcare services for residents, ensuring the facility meets Department of Health standards for primary healthcare provider facilities.
