Manila: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is on track to meet its revenue collection target of PHP34 billion for 2025. In a statement on Wednesday, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said collated data from various regional offices revealed that they have so far collected PHP19.74 billion in revenue.
According to Philippines News Agency, Mendoza said the positive collection effort was the result of strategic measures in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s order for efficient government operations. ‘Tinaasan namin ang target dahil sa assessment namin ay kaya naman. Ang kailangan lang ay agresibo at maayos na mga pamamaraan para maabot ito dahil kapag malaki ang na-remit natin sa national government, malaking tulong din ito sa mga programa at proyekto para sa ating mga kababayang mahihirap (We increased our target because we assessed we can make it. We just needed an aggressive and proper implementation to reach it because if we remit a large sum to the national government, it would be a big help to programs and projects for the poor),’ he said.
To date, Mendoza said, almost all regions have already collected more than half of their 2025 revenue target, with some even past 60 percent. He expressed confidence that the remaining 42 percent of their target revenue, or PHP14 billion, will be achieved before the end of 2025.
‘This early, I would like to express my gratitude to all LTO personnel for all your efforts. Malaki-laki pa ang kailangang makolekta pero tiwala ako na kakayanin natin yan, gaya ng noong nakalipas na dalawang taon (We still have a lot to collect, but I trust we can do this, like what we have done these past two years),’ he said.
The revenue collected by the LTO came from motor vehicle registration and renewal, driver’s license application and renewal, and other LTO-related transactions.
