LTO Announces Return to Regular Document Validity Periods and Renewal Schedules

Manila:The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced the reinstatement of regular validity periods and renewal schedules for various transportation-related documents. This change affects vehicle registrations, driver's and conductor's licenses, student permits, and medical certificates, following the normalization of the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS).

According to Philippines News agency, the LTO has implemented grace periods for motorists whose documents expired between July and October, which were previously extended. This is detailed in Memorandum Circular MVL-2026-5523, dated October 29. The circular allows affected motorists to renew their documents within specific periods without incurring additional fees or penalties.

Motorists with documents that expired in July and August have the opportunity to renew from November 3 to December 29. Those with expirations in September can renew from December 1, 2026, to January 29, 2027. Meanwhile, renewals for documents that expired in October can be processed from January 4 to February 26 of the following year.

The LTO has issued a warning that failure to renew documents within the designated grace periods will result in applicable fees and penalties. The agency encourages the public to proactively manage their renewals and ensure that all necessary paperwork is complete before visiting LTO offices.
