Davao region: Various local government units (LGUs) in Davao Region suspended classes as a safety precaution amid adverse weather brought by Tropical Storm Basyang.
According to Philippines News Agency, in Davao de Oro, the municipalities of New Bataan, Compostela, Maragusan, Montevista, Nabunturan, Mawab, Maco, Pantukan, Mabini, and Laak suspended classes, while the municipality of Monkayo is under granular class suspension. In Davao del Norte, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office also issued an advisory suspending face-to-face classes in cities and municipalities, including Panabo City, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), and the towns of Sto. Tomas, San Isidro, Kapalong, Carmen, New Corella, Braulio E. Dujali, Asuncion, and Talaingod.
In Davao Oriental, face-to-face classes were suspended in Mati City, Lupon, Baganga, Boston, Caraga, Cateel, Manay, and Banaybanay. In Davao Occidental, the Sta. Maria town government declared class suspension at all levels in both public and private schools, including the work of teaching and non-teaching personnel. In Davao del Sur, the municipality of Sta. Cruz and Digos City also declared suspension of classes. In Davao City, classes at all school levels, both public and private, were suspended from Thursday until Friday.
Based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration advisory, an Orange Warning is now hoisted for Davao Oriental (Boston, Cateel, Baganga), where flooding is threatening low-lying areas and landslides are occurring in mountainous areas. Additionally, a Yellow Warning is hoisted in Davao del Norte (Kapalong) and Davao de Oro (Monkayo and Laak), where flooding is possible in low-lying areas and landslides in upland areas. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains are expected over Davao City, Davao del Norte (IGACOS, Carmen, Panabo City, Braulio E. Dujali, Tagum City), Davao Occidental and Davao del Sur.
