Manila: The Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank) is expanding its network in Eastern Visayas, with plans to open branches in two unbanked towns this year and two more in 2027, an official said Tuesday. LandBank assistant vice president Brendalyn Villavicencio announced that new branches will be established in Balangiga, Eastern Samar, and Javier, Leyte this year.
According to Philippines News Agency, the expansion plan also includes opening branches in Laoang, Northern Samar and Palompon, Leyte by 2027. Villavicencio emphasized the bank's commitment to making banking services more accessible, pointing out that residents in these unbanked towns often have to travel long distances to access financial services.
In addition to new branches, the bank is increasing its deployment of automated teller machines in areas with stable internet connectivity. LandBank is also expanding its 'Kasama' (companion) partner network, which facilitates cash withdrawals through local stores. The overall objective of this initiative is to promote financial inclusion and support economic activity in the underserved rural areas of Eastern Visayas.
