La Union High School Benefits from P13.9-Million Classroom Building Project

San juan: The San Juan National High School located in Barangay Ili Sur, San Juan town, La Union province, has recently acquired four additional classrooms. This development follows the completion of a new school building constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) just in time for the start of the school year.

According to Philippines News Agency, Esperanza Tinaza, the information officer for the DPWH Ilocos Region, stated that the project was financed with PHP13.9 million from the General Appropriations Act – Basic Education Facilities Fund (GAA-BEFF). Tinaza highlighted that the project is a significant enhancement for the local education sector, aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment with modern infrastructure to support both students and educators.

The newly constructed building consists of four classrooms spread over two floors. Each classroom meets modern safety and durability standards and incorporates a learner-centered design. The enhanced lighting, ventilation, and spatial layout within the classrooms are intended to promote better concentration, more effective instruction, and an improved overall educational experience.

Tinaza further noted that this development is timely, as public schools are experiencing rising enrollment rates. The addition of new classrooms is expected to help alleviate overcrowding in existing facilities. The construction of the building commenced on September 9, 2024, and was completed on June 2, 2025.
