Iloilo City: The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has received a fully armored vehicle to enhance operational readiness and ensure officer safety during high-risk situations. The vehicle, donated by a private benefactor, Chiu Rhett Cembrano of Golden Delta, through the Iloilo city government, was officially turned over on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Philippines News Agency, ICPO Director Col. Kim Legada highlighted the advanced features of the new SWAT van, noting that it will significantly intensify the unit’s response capability. “The SWAT van is fully armored and equipped with features that can help during special interventions like high-risk warrant service, hostage-taking situations, and other similar incidents,” Legada said in a media interview.
Mayor Jerry Tre±as emphasized the importance of collaboration between the local government and private sector in strengthening public safety. He said the donation “is a symbol of our shared commitment to security and public service.”
In January this year, the city government also turned over to the ICPO three patrol cars, 80 Taurus T4 Caliber 5.56 assault rifles, and 250 units of Motorola handheld radios. Legada said the support boosts the morale of police officers, and they are inspired to work knowing that they have the capability. “There’s no challenge that we would not face with this kind of capability,” he added.
