Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported Wednesday that the recently concluded Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections (BPE) recorded the highest voter turnout at 84.34 percent.

According to Philippines News Agency, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia stated that the number of voters who participated in last Monday's polls was the highest compared to previous elections in the country. The 84.34 percent represents a total of 2,018,478 people who cast their ballots out of 2,393,202 registered voters in the region.

The Comelec noted that the data exceeded its earlier prediction of an 80 percent voter turnout. "We are pleased to announce that the first and historic BARMM Parliamentary Elections on Sept. 14, 2026 achieved a very high voter turnout, exceeding the Comelec's expectation of 80%," it said in a social media post.

Garcia attributed this achievement to several factors, including 'enhanced voting experience, broader and inclusive voters' education and greater collaboration with civil society organizations, and more importantly, transparency.'

Meanwhile, the Comelec released the names of winning candidates for the Legislative District Representatives for the Bangsamoro Parliament. They include Rima Hassan, Pai Sali, Abrar Hataman, and Jay Hataman for Basilan; Doc Pala Gandamra, Hamza Gauraki, Rauf Adiong, and others for Lanao del Sur; and several more representatives from regions such as Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Tawi-Tawi, Special Geographic Area, and Cotabato City.

"All winning candidates were proclaimed yesterday. A day after the election," Garcia confirmed.
