Manila: The Department of Tourism in Caraga (DOT-13) has partnered with the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU-13) of the Police Regional Office in the area to combat online scams and strengthen cybersecurity for tourism enterprises in the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOT-13 Regional Director Ivonnie Dumadag highlighted the importance of this engagement with RACU-13 as a crucial step toward ensuring the safety and security of tourists and tourism stakeholders. The collaboration focuses on preventing and responding to online scams, phishing, identity theft, and other cybercrime threats as tourism increasingly relies on digital platforms and transactions.

Key personnel from DOT-13 met with RACU-13 officers to identify emerging cyber threats and discuss preventive measures. During the meeting, both agencies finalized reporting mechanisms and practical safeguards aimed at protecting tourism businesses, online transactions, tourists, and clients from fraudulent activities.

Dumadag emphasized the significance of interagency collaboration in promoting a secure digital environment. This partnership is a strategic move to protect the tourism industry and the traveling public from scams and online fraud. She expressed gratitude to the Philippine National Police and RACU, acknowledging their role in fostering a safer, more secure, and trustworthy tourism environment throughout the region.
