Makati: The Likhang HABI Market Fair is set to return in October to showcase local weaves and artisanal products, putting the spotlight on both traditional and modern techniques that Filipino designers and weaving communities use to help the Philippine textile industry thrive.

According to Philippines News Agency, the fair, organized by HABI: The Philippine Textile Council, will run from Oct. 10 to 12 at the Space in One Ayala, Makati, and feature about a hundred weavers, weaving communities, artisans, and designers from across the country.

HABI president Mia Villanueva stated that the Likhang HABI Market Fair is an annual event where weaving communities present products created using newly developed techniques, which contribute to the weaving culture and national identity. A new space at the event will also showcase culinary artisans, regional delicacies, and featured restaurants led by Chef Sau Del Rosario, known for promoting Kapampangan heritage through culinary expression.

The culinary space will feature creations from Cafe Fleur, which reflects Sau’s personal journey and appreciation for culinary heritage. Beyond seller booths, the fair will offer a variety of activities, including talks and panel discussions known as Kwentong Kultura: The HABI Lectures.

The event will also display entries to the 8th Lourdes Montinola Pi±a Weaving Competition and the 4th Eloisa Hizon Gomez Abaca Weaving Competition, with awards presented on Oct. 11 and 12, respectively. Likhang HABI, now in its 15th iteration, remains one of the country’s largest gatherings promoting the preservation of Philippine textiles.
