Manila: Ride-sharing and delivery service Grab Philippines (Grab) has launched its ‘Green Programme’ that allows users to give small donations to fund environmental conservation projects.

According to Philippines News Agency, Grab announced that customers can donate PHP2 for every GrabCar or GrabTaxi ride, while every GrabFood or GrabMart delivery allows for a contribution of PHP1.

The initiative introduces a new toggle-on feature across Grab’s on-demand mobility and delivery services, enabling users to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts with strategic program partners Fostering Education and Environment for Development, Inc. (FEED), EcoMatcher Ltd, and the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary Project.

A key initiative of the program is a mangrove-planting project in Dulao Village, La Union, which involves collaboration with locals and the farming community. It is supported by EcoMatcher and FEED, a local non-government organization that focuses on sustainable education and tree planting.

Grab director for strategy Greg Camacho stated that the initiative is part of the company’s commitment to nation-building through technology and its platform. “We will continuously innovate and explore new pathways to make our services greener and reduce our carbon footprint, nurturing a sustainable future for every rider, driver, passenger, and consumer in the Grab community,” Camacho said.
